Biography

Like the majority of Black soldiers, Cordelia was hardly born into a wealthy noble family. In fact, the current Queen of Spades originated from a gardener family who owns a small flower shop in the Central Quarter.

Despite her average origin, Cordelia was well-educated by both family and school. In her schooldays, she was friended with the King of Hearts (who was then just the heir) and Joker. Back then, Delia and Joker were the only two people at school who treated the future King as equal, for which the young boy was grateful. The three of them were so close, Cordelia had never imagined of a day when they would separate. However, nothing is foreseeable when it comes to people's hearts. It came as a shock to the other two when the future King of Hearts changed completely after his Father's sudden death, as if someone had been pulling strings upon him all along. While the Joker could not stand it anymore and started to turn his back against him, Cordelia desperately attempted to figure out what had happened, but her efforts turned fruitless the moment the King himself shut the friends out of his life, continually.

The day the heir of Hearts was crowned King was also the day Delia officially joined the Black Army.

Apart from her parents, Delia has 3 siblings. One is older sister, and the rest are younger boys. It is her dream to be in charge of the family’s flower shop, but since she is now an officer, it is currently entrusted to her siblings.

A Beast on the outside,
a Belle on the inside

Cordelia truly lives up to the nickname “local mom of the Black Army". She seems to always consider the twelve other chosen leaders her little brothers, yet only call them “a bunch of rowdies” that need discipline. She is in charge of cooking with great help of the shy, innocent Jack of Spades, and the rest are "in charge" of tasting.

The Queen of Spades is known as an organized and neatness-obsessed person who does not spare even a tiny spot of dust- in which case, she would clean up the entire room all over again without second thought. Since the Black Army cannot afford the help, Cordelia is more than willing to fill in that position. In her free time, she is often caught reorganizing the filing cabinet and dusting off all huge bookshelves in the office with an old feather duster. In addition, she is also the one who imposes the rule of “cleaning the Headquarter at least twice a month” on all soldiers, which they all hate but follow anyway.

Due to her root as a gardener, Delia is usually totally immersed in tending to her garden in the Headquarter. She knows a variety of flowers and plants in general, and takes so much care of every seed sowed beneath the ground. The “rowdy bunch” is strictly not allowed to get near the garden, or they will get a good smack or two if they dare to.

Cordelia never ceases to seem calm even in the most difficult situations, perhaps her age and experience have something to do with it. She is strict, sometimes intimidating— OKAY, fine, she IS intimidating MOST of the time. But isn’t that what mothers are like? Scary on the outside, caring on the inside.

However, the current Queen of Spades is not all good; she is shown at times to be envious of others, and can be extremely serious when she needs to be. Despite being a tactician for the Black Army, the weight of her role is a heavy one, and because of that she is willing to go to great lengths to preserve the lives of allied soldiers and leaders.

While Delia gives good advice when she is needed, rarely do the others see her confide in anyone about her own problems. Everyone got a glimpse of her complicated personal life, but no one would be confident to claim they know the Queen of Spades well.

Military role

Delia has been in the Black Army for far longer than the current King has, but not once does she wish to reach that position. Unlike the energetic King of Spades, she does not like appearing in public (her going personally to the battlefield is only the matter of desperate time calls for desperate measure). When it comes to war, all strategies are set up by the Queen solely to minimize the amount of Black Army bloodshed as much as possible.

Despite her position in the Army, she has never been fond of fighting in general. In fact, she is not skilled in any art of fighting. No swordsmanship, no archery, only horse riding. Hence Cordelia does her best as the tactician to make that up by coming up with plans that are most likely to bring them victory. Her ingenious strategic mind can be put into comparison with that of the calculating Jack of Hearts, though she is never seen to be bragging about it.

In addition, all of the paper work is handled also by Cordelia. Since she likes to keep up with the number of everything, all files of every soldier and every little detail of expenditure of the Black Army are carefully written and controlled by the Queen (of course, with the permission given by the King).

Though she may seem continually aggravated (and go all violent) with the fellow soldiers, the Queen of Spades holds great respect for the King, as well as the other chosen leaders.
